RARE AND FINE TYPE 2 STANLEY NO. 5 PLANE

The plane is in excellent overall condition for its age with all proper original parts (except the cutting iron which has the 1892 patent date and must have been an early replacement). The original cap iron has the 1867 Bailey patent stamp and the beautiful beaded front knob is in excellent condition. When I bought the plane, the handle tip was missing so I have restored it with a proper piece of Brazilian rosewood. The only detractions of note are a bit of chipping at the very front and back of the sole, a tiny 1/8" x 1/16" flea bite at the mouth, and a bit of 'scaling' or shallow pitting on the sole.
