RARE 1853 J. SHERMAN POCKET LEVEL - ORIGINAL LABELS BEHIND GLASS

3 1/2" long. Early US patent number 9867 is one of the first 10K patents ever issued in the US. Stanley's line levels were all modelled after the Sherman patent. Paper label reads, 'J. SHERMAN, NEW-YORK. PATENTED July 19th, 1853.' Superb uncleaned condition and will glow with a cleanup.
