RARE 1869 WINTERBOTTOM'S PATENT MITER SQUARE

Stamped clearly on the rosewood handle 'W S WINTERBOTTOM PHILA.DA PAT. JUNE 29.69'. Pre Stanley and the first of these I have seen in this configuration. This is not a Stanley "Type 1" as this dates before Stanley bought WInterbottom out and is a different configuration. Has the usual scratches and dings with pitting on the blade and a chip in handle bottom but a good deep stamp. As found, uncleaned.
