RARE EARLY ENGLISH INFILL JACK PLANE - COX LONDON

This plane is stamped COX LONDON on the cap iron. Research indicates Cox made very good quality planes of which very few are known and worked 1834-1853. The wedge appears to closely match a couple of his planes I saw pictures of and is initial-stamped on the bottom as shown. This is very well made. The infill, handle and wedge appear to be mahogany possibly with some original staining (as it is dark on the sides and in other spots) and the infill is pinned into the body. There is a single hairline on one side of the frame, a chip off the front 'bun' and another off the side of the handle. Ward iron.
