BEAUTIFUL & FIGURAL HANDCRAFTED SUMITSUBO/INK LINE

Traditional wooden-bodied marking line used with ink found in woodworking traditions of China and Japan among others. Very figural and ornate. Figures seem to represent a bird and a dog atop an outstretched arm. 10" long and 3 1/2" high with reel hidden underneath. The coin attached to the end of the line is an antique Chinese cash coin with a square hole through it hinting that this likely Chinese in origin.
