Chapin's equivalent to Stanley's No. 32 1/2 (12", fully brass bound with an arch joint.) Uncleaned as found in great condition noting some spring when opened.
According to Philip E. Stanley's detailed Stanley rule book this is dated ca 1855 to 1901 and the Chapin version of this rule is one of the rarer varieties of the "32 1/2" rules that were ever made. This is also the first I've come across.
