EARLY BLACK SELLARS & CO SPLIT NUT BACK SAW - C. 1880 - 16"

Stamped "SPEED" with a beautiful swallow logo, two crowns along with "BLACK SELLARS & CO SHEFFIELD" and "GERMAN STEEL" . Simon Barley's excellent book on English saw makers lists this as circa 1880 based on the stamp.

18" long and 9 TPI. Great for a miter box, long cuts, sliding dovetails, timber framing etc. Fine condition for its age. Straight, has set, and is quite sharp. Split nuts have never been taken off. Sliver off one side of the top of the tote. Early and excellent.
