A strange device patented in 1931 for branding/tattooing livestock that features adjustable type. The mechanism that allows the middle two characters to change is very fluid and easy to use. Fine overall condition noting that the outer "B" has been changed into a "P" by omitting some of the pins. Able to swap characters around for different combinations. Uncleaned as found.
Stamped as follows:
"KETCHUM MFG. CO. LTD. OTTAWA
PATENTED CAN.
No. 311998
MADE IN CANADA"
Ketchum Manufacturing Co. continues to produce various tools for livestock, signs and stamps in Canada to this day. Cool piece of history, very odd tool.
