I have only ever observed one other of this variant gunmetal Miller's patent plow plane. What sets this apart from other type 2s is the elongated sleeve on the fence where the arms pass through. The plane, cutters, filletster bed and box are all original and in superb condition with only a check at one rivet (almost every two pin Miller's have this check) on the handle. It is housed in its original box bottom and the filletster bed is the type 1 with the slotted iron. The top of this box had cast iron arm "protectors" attached to it. I have spoken to a few people who call this a Type 1 C or first variant Type 2. I believe this to be rarer or at least as rare as the type 1 itself. Absolutely top shelf.
