Remarkable find. Like new condition in original box. Shiny silky smooth original finish on brass screw cap. Dovetailed sole. Uncommon NO. 2 designation. 'A' NORRIS LONDON on cap iron and early uncommon Norris stamp on the iron. Crisp rosewood retaining 97%+ original finishes. Original straw and wax wrapper still in the box (which is missing one long side). I cannot find another example of this colour box online. I believe this is pre 1900 and certainly is pre 1902 as the family said that it was brought to Canada from England in 1902. It has picked up some light touches of oxidization on the iron and plane body from sitting in the box for over a century but will absolutely glow with a gentle cleaning on the iron portions. Someone must have very gently tried to sand one side (only) of the plane to remove oxidization but the 'scratches' are so light it would be very easy to polish out quickly. Absolutely top shelf.
