Measures 11 1/8" long with a 7 1/2" sweep. Stamped 'HILGER & SONS' in the iron underneath the head. Likely made sometime in the 1800s.
Beautifully made brace featuring a very unusual chuck lock mechanism, shapely iron frame, knurled iron collar below the handle, and finely turned wood handles. The best 'Gent's' style I have owned. Superb condition considering its age.
The working dates of Hilger & Sons go as far back as 1789.
