Circa 1845. This is definitely the most remarkable chisel I've ever owned. Immaculate condition. Measures a total of 28 1/2" long with only a 4" handle. 1/4" thick at the working edge to a full 3/4" where the chisel meets the socket. Laminated steel. Clearly stamped 'R. BARTON I. BELDEN ROCHESTER' (with 'ROCHESTER' being upside down). This partnership was only in business from 1844-1848. Considering this is almost 200 years old, it is in magnificent condition and was found hidden in a till at the bottom of a tool box. Top shelf (if you can fit it on there!)
