EARLY 1600s FRENCH BISCAYAN TRADE AXE

Length across the head is 6 1/4" long with a 3" cutting edge. Heavily pitted as to be expected but with a clear large stamp and another likely small circular stamp on one side, and what looks like a pitted, obscured stamp on the other.  Great (likely replaced) handle.
