I have looked this plane over very carefully and compared it to type studies and a couple of other examples that I have been able to find on the internet and I believe this plane to be possibly the earliest production Sargent plane. The number designation behind the frog is stamped or impressed into the plane body not embossed as other examples I have seen designated as type ones.
This plane is in excellent condition and 100% original. It is basically flawless other than a few tiny nicks along the top edge of the plane handle. Japanning is about 70% overall and the plane has a great patina. Top shelf.
