OUTSTANDING STEERS 1885 PATENT NO 404 SMOOTH PLANE

William Steers of Sherbrooke Quebec patented several incarnations of his basic and original patent planes. This one is stamped "Steers Patent Pat'd Jany 6 1885 404" on the iron and has the floral pattern cap screw. 90% original japanning and excellent overall. Front knob flawless and back handle very very good noting some owners initials and it being slightly altered where the adjusting knob passes by. A gorgeous early patent in fine condition.
